Hello everyone,

I just wanted to show a little support for dread wax. When used properly, it helps. It's one of the things that's helped me since the beginning (along with a lot of other 'things')!! :)

~Blessings and beautiful dreadies to all!!~

I definitely do not recommend wax, once your hair is locked and long, it can mildew and create stinky problems later....love to ya sis

I agree with Seaofcolour, if used properly it can be helpful.

I feel that the first 17 mos. were my experiment with wax.. and it`s passed the test. Mildew smell only comes from not letting hair dry properly after washing (I`ve never let this happen in my hair, but it`s happened to my friend`s when he didn`t make sure it dried quickly enough). Adding wax to wet hair could be disgusting, and would only compound the problem, I`d imagine (holding in the moisture causing stink). However, as I`ve been using it only on totally dry hair, and not in excess, it`s been working GREAT for me, calming down frizies, and softening èm when they get `crispy.
I`ve cut off some dreads I wasn`t getting along with, and have found no wax at the center of any of the dreads, only pure knotted hair.. which was nice.
Despite all this, I do love to hear any and all comments like, and otherwise!! :)

I'm putting this up as the main photo 'cause I'm getting a little tired of the wax bashing -- most of the time it's coming from people who've never used it, or used it improperly. Dread wax is a great tool for tidy, healthy dreads. This pic is evidence. 'Nuf sed.

This is an adorable photo, but its not evidence. Its just a picture. We can't see whats inside her locks. Would a blob of wax in your palm for 12 hours be sparkling clean at the end of the day?

Um, I don't know about other people, but the only 'blobs' I add to my hair are blobs of shampoo.. in the shower.
As mentioned earlier, when I've cut off an occasional lock, it's nice to see nothing but pure knotted hair (I'll add some close-up cross section photos).
Wax, as with a lot of things in life, are alright -- when used in moderation! :)
PS. Thanks for the compliment, altho that was not the point of ur comment.. ;)

Ok, the sweetest dreads I have ever seen in my life we NEVER picture perfectly sectioned tidy pretty boy/girl dreads. this defeats the purpose of having dreads. Its NOT healthy because wax SEPARATES your hair and doesn't allow it to do what it is supposed to do in order to dread, which is move. Your hair ravels and unravels on its own to form tight locks. Why you would want that nasty, sticky shit in your hair is beyond me. They're dreadlocks...not candle sticks. Ye who use wax are posers and do not deserve dreads. What is the point? Its not a fucking fashion statement. Whats cool about having tidy perfect dreads that all look alike and don't each have their own personality. Uniform is the last word that should be used to describe dreadlocks. "Nuf sed"

The background enhances your eyes, What kind of wax did you use. I like wax but its really only a temporary superficial fix. Either way it looks great,

I used Dreadhead wax pretty regularly for the first year. My dreads are nearly 2 yrs. old now, and I only use it once every 2 or 3 months. I wouldn't have been able to get through that first year without it though.. it kept my hair looking decent while it went through the knotting process. Thanks for your comments :)

you obviously did something right ,your locks are amazing . theres nothing wrong with uniform as far as Im concerned .. each set of dreads is unique to itself and that does not exclude uniform dreads..peace to all and to each his own or we would be clones after all.
