yeah there's really not much you can do about that...I have the same thing, as I always sleep with my locks out...once they harden-up nice n tight u won't have the problem...

that's about right for a tam...I dunno anywhere you could get one cheaper...do you, or anyone you know, crochet? I make tams, and have a great and pretty easy pattern I could send your way...

Damn $40 bucks is wayyy too much for a tam. Venice isn't to far away for you and it would make cool Sunday adventure. Also some people on etsy.com will make completely custom ones for you. My friend made me a cool one.

Well, when you consider the currency exchange, that's about right...I don't think I've seen any that are worth having that aren't $25 or $30 and that's at the markets...it really would be more cost effective to make your own...or as suggested, if you can find someone who'll custom make you one for less, by all means!

all-in-all, I think customs tams are better anyway, because they fit YOU...anytime I've made one for someone else, I've gotten certain measurements etc, so i can adapt the pattern slightly to specific locks and heads :)

Not having a tam to sleep in is probably contributing to your dreads getting flat, really, its gonna happen somewhat regardless, but from day one until they're more mature you should ALWAYS where a satin cap or tam of some sort to bed period. You can get satin caps at wal mart for like 2 buck in the "black people's" hair product section with all the beeswax, wave caps, etc.

i dont even own a tam ,maybe I should.. my dreads in the back were getting flat and paddle shaped so I spent a good hour palm rolling and now its much better.. it just takes work... maybe the hard way
