Hi! I have just gotten my dreads done and had a few questions. Is their any way to control the frizz? At the moment they are extremely frizzy and not so managable. I know that it will happen just as a part of the process, but i wondered if their was a way to minimize it. Also, how tight do they need to initially? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Palm rolling, palm rolling, and palm rolling.

Every time they get wet, palm roll.

I also like Knotty Boy's Tightening Gel, plus palm rolling.

Post some pics of those new dreads!

Yeah, David pretty much got it first shot. Palm rolling is going to do it for you for the first few months. Those are the worst, but it starts getting better round the three month mark.

Careful with the tightening gel if you have dark hair though, if you put too much in it will leave little white flakes in your hair.

Palm Roll is the best maintaince you can do for your dreads. Also the Knotty Boy tightening gel applied in small amounts to wet hair will reduce the white flakies on dark hair. But always make sure you dry throughly. Blessings

Aloe vera will tame the frizzies as well as strengthen & mousturize your locks, with no residue or chemicals to worry about.

If you mean you have really long hairs that haven't locked-in, and I'm talking more than one or two single hairs lol, get yourself a wool needle (the big thick ones, about " long with a large eye)...insert the sharp end into your dread about were the frizzy long sections start on the dread...weave the needle right through the middle of your dreadlock and poke it out again...you should now have the needle poking out of dreadlock at both top and bottom. Now take those long frizzies and twist them in your fingers so they're like one single strand and thread this strand through the eye of the needle, pull the strand tight inside the eye, and take the point end of needle and pull the strand through the dreadlock...this will thread such problem frizzies back into the dread. If there's any excess, I generally just cut it off, or do the same procedure back UP the dread (this ensures it ain;t coming out with anything short of a nuclear blast LOL :P

Thank you everyone so much for the advice :). They have become less frizzy with massive palm rolling, and I'm glad to know a solution for big hairs that don't get caught in the dread. Again, you guys have been amazingly helpful. I will try and post pictures up at some point :).
