Re: anyone use knotty boy tighting gel?
Mon, January 21, 2008 - 6:13 AMI have the knotty boy tightening gel also, I try to only use it near my roots when I am circling them on my scalp. I have seen a lot of little hairs break off when I use it on the entire dread. The main problem with this product I have seen though, is it leaves little white flakes that look like dandruff everywhere it touches. I have bright red hair, so it is very noticeable. It does help lock up the hair though.

Re: anyone use knotty boy tighting gel?
Mon, January 21, 2008 - 11:23 AMUsed it and LOVED it!! Tried to keep it only on around the new growth and not on the longer dreaded part because it is rather drying. Never had any brakeage. Really liked the smell!! -

Re: anyone use knotty boy tighting gel?
Mon, January 21, 2008 - 1:02 PMit is great. i have not had any breakage yet. it just amazing how drying this stuff makes my dreads. after the first use i washed about 2 days later and the moisture returned to my hair and i thinksit made my locks tighter. ever use a product called lock butta? i have some of that but have not used it yet. i was thinking of putting on that or giving them a waxing. not sure which would be more helpful....

Re: anyone use knotty boy tighting gel?
Sun, February 10, 2008 - 6:59 AMI use KB gel. I use it sparingly at the roots and apply it to my hair when it's WET and work it in really good. My hair is jet-black and if I try to put KB gel on dry hair it will leave little white flakies. Not cute. Hope this helps. -

Mon, February 11, 2008 - 11:47 AMDoes it help to lock new growth into the dreads.. or at least keep it stuck down for a few days after washing? -

Re: anyone use knotty boy tighting gel?
Tue, February 12, 2008 - 7:44 PM^^^ yeah it does help to keep the fuzzy's down a bit , also makes them a bit stiff. but the smell is awesome!
its a made to use when your hair is wet, just palm roll it in.
I usually crochet after it has dried a bit and my dreadies never look better :)
I think you might have to crochet new growth into dreads, can't see how just gel or wax would get hem knotted into the dread itself.
I wold def. use it on new dreadies to keep them together.
peace

Re: anyone use knotty boy tighting gel?
Fri, March 20, 2009 - 12:37 PMi LOVE this stuff. It's the only expensive dread product I will buy ritually. I used it a lot in my first year of dreads and it made my hair all sexy. It DOES dry though for sure, so I guess if its getting too dry for your liking you can use it less or you can do what I did which was condition [but I'm crazy and my hair is very tough.] I still use it once every few months when i want to tighten up some loose ends or loose places. AS for the dandruff fun? That prolly means you're using too much. You don't NEED much...and ya not near the scalp. It doesn't matter what you do with it near the roots it'll still flake.

Re: anyone use knotty boy tighting gel?
Sat, March 21, 2009 - 7:07 PMI use it aswell. I mix it with water. 2 parts water 1 part gel, into a spray-bottle and a give my head a quick little shower in the morning. I got fresh new dreads (3 weeks old) but everyone I meet say they look older, so I guess it is the gel. And my roomie love the smell! She is always coming into the bathroom when I use it to sniff on my hair. lol!

Sat, March 28, 2009 - 3:08 PMHIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY ME!
I love the stuff!
Try putting a big glob of it in a spray bottle and mixing in some water. Then you can spray it on when you dont have time to put it on all your dreads. Also, it's less harsh that way. It's good too for when you are lookin a bit frizzy to mist some on there and roll 'em real quick.
