Just three days ago i got my hair backcombed into pretty dreads, and left the rubber bands at the roots, but the bands seem to be hindering all my little frays (i got lots of them, i jumped through a bonfire a while back and it singed my hair up a good bit) from becoming part of the locks. So is it super important to leave the bands in for a few weeks or should i take them out and roll the frays in?

Are you talking about rubber bands at your roots or your ends? -

Fri, October 30, 2009 - 8:17 PMYeah I dun reckon singhing them was a good idea at all...talk about breakage.
and...get those bands outta your roots right now. You can put em on the tips to prevent unraveling for the first couple weeks, but having them on your roots is GOING to cause hair breakage...and this will result in a major halo of frizz around your entire scalp...not a nice look at all, and hard to fix while those hairs are short.
