Hi guys,
I finally had my friend record me dreading one of my friends and also write an article on how to make dreads using a comb to backcomb and a crochet hook to tidy the dread up. No wax needed.

my only question is related to the tips. i still can't figure out how to get those nice rounded tips even after reading your article and watching the video. i couldn't quite see what you were doing to the tips with the needle.
can you maybe explain it in a different way, or does anyone else have suggestions for rounded tips?

Sun, May 25, 2008 - 6:17 PMHaha, that's coz my friend who was recording messed up while I was doing the tips!
It's basically folding over the hairs at the tip, which in that case makes a rounded end. After folding over, you gotta use the hook to sew the folded hair back in. Just assume the folded back hair as a thread, and use the crochet hook to sew the thread back in, you know, like how you use a needle to sew, up down up down. -

Wed, July 8, 2009 - 2:10 PMfolding over works but also a good way is to stic the needle through the length of the dread so the tip is sticking out the end and wrapping the loose hair around and pulling it bck up through the dread. helped with mine (though I havenet finish all of mine
