Re: cleaning
Fri, January 9, 2009 - 7:01 AMIf you are using a gel, you may just be using a bit too much and causing flakes, which may appear to be dandruff. Try either using less gel, or stopping completely for a bit and see if it makes a difference.

Re: cleaning
Thu, January 15, 2009 - 3:39 PMi just got some of that lock and twist gel... i used it once, but my dreads are sorta falling out because i broke a finger and it's hard to maintain them. Anyways, i was wondering how the gel works for you? besides the dandruff, does it actually help?
as for the dandruff, before I had dreads I always used regular old bar soap instead of shampoo to get rid of it....maybe it works for dreads too? -

Re: cleaning
Sun, January 18, 2009 - 9:44 AMDon't know about your hair type but after a year I don't think you should be needing to use anything on them except for maybe a bit of conditioner of some sort every couple of weeks or so.
Could the residue be dry flaky scalp? I changed shampoos and had a terrible flake/dandruff problem until I ordered some Lush Soak and Float shampoo on line. It smells TERRIBLE but works like a dream. After I got rid of the flakes I then switched to their Squeaky Green and also their Cinnamon shampoo. Love the smell of both and the fact that they come in a solid puck, no bottles to have to recycle.
