I have had my dreads in for about4 months now. and they are looking fine.
the bottom part by the scalp has grown and it is not dreaded.
i asked a hairstyler and he showed me a technique wich is taking the bottom part by the scapl making a whole then taking the dread and looping it through that whole then pulling it .
It does eliminate the undreaded part but it looks kinda weird .
it had someone do it to all my dreads andknow their is noundreaded hair but it looks tooo separated!! and it made my hair shorter!
does any one use this technique?
is theyre a better way of doing it?
Please feed back on this. Thank you. Peace and love to all you!!

Re: How do you get the bottom part by the scalp to dread after it has grown? i did a looping technique please read and feed back!!
Wed, February 18, 2009 - 1:12 AMOh hell no LOL that's not actually dreading your roots, just looping them...
Get your flat palm and rub the crap outta your roots (I do both directions, clockwise and counter), then separate dreads and pam-roll nice n hard...you can then rubber band the roots if you wish, to keep them together, get those mats created to hold...it also helps for me, when I tie my upper dreads up ontop of my head (the pineapple lol), leaving the lower ones around the back of m neck out, and sleep on them...tends to dread them up nice:)) Good luck! -

Thu, February 19, 2009 - 12:26 AMI don't know from experience and I dont know how validated this information is, but I heard by using this technique that when your dreads grow - you actually end up with weak spots. Can anyone clarify this for me please? -

Kath...I dunno about weak spots, but they will look different from the sections of dread that are actually dreaded...

Fri, February 20, 2009 - 12:31 AMI've been doing my dreads that way for over a year now.. but I do clockwise rubbing inbetween. I rub like hell, then do the loop.
When I first found the looping method, however, I almost stopped 'rubbin' (mistake!), and in a couple places my dreads bend (which is called a 'weak spot'.. since it's not as equally stiff as the rest of the dread).

Fri, February 20, 2009 - 12:40 AMTo Dematerialize: Don't worry if you can't get all of the looped part undone, just make sure that you do plenty of clockwise rubbing (as your hair grows!) www.dreadheadhq.com/maintain...bbing.php
with your scalp nice 'n sqeaky CLEAN, and your dreads won't look so 'separated'.
I find that if I only loop a few here and there (AFTER rubbing), and do it rarely.. my dreads stay the way I want 'em to.
~Best of luck on your journey!~
