i spend a lot of time in the woods and theres tons of ticks around here, i've only had one on my skin luckily (that i was aware of at least) do you worry about ticks attaching to your head under your dreads/ found one in your hair? i don't really worry about it, but i'm wondering if maybe i should be? i wouldn't mind them if they weren't potentially carrying lyme disease. ...

Re: ticks in dreads?!?
Sun, August 30, 2009 - 9:12 AMI'd just suggest doing as you normally would do after time in the woods...flip your head over and feel all around on your scalp...you CAN feel your scalp at the base of your dreads if you take your time...and usually the ones that would get on your head are the larger dog ticks...the deer ticks seem to prefer creases in your body, like behind your knees and the crease of your legs...*shudder*...I have to deal with them where I live, too and I can't remember the last time I actually had one on my head...just be vigilant to protect yourself and I don't think you have to worry too much.

Tue, September 1, 2009 - 10:58 AMI worry about that too... but I rarely ever get ticks on my head and I don't think I have ever had deer ticks on my head, like the above person said, they seem to usually go to creases in the body. When I go hiking I use this new insect repellent that I found that is made from Lemon Eucalyptus so it is all natural.
