Hello everyone,
First off, I would really love to have thick dreadlocks and am currently
growing out my hair. My hair gets pretty curly when it grows out so the
locking up should be easier. However, my mom, and some friends
have advised me against getting dreads because of fear from employers
taking one look at me and obviously seeing that I am not the average joe.
I was wondering if any of you have experienced any prejudice against
your hair style as if it were like tattoos in nature.

Re: Dreadlocks and lack of jobs?
Fri, February 20, 2009 - 10:41 PMI work at a restaurant so you'd think they'd be completely against it,
but I keep them up in a ponytail and all I get is complements.
If you maintain them and keep them clean, and keep yourself
looking presentable, then you shouldn't have a problem.
Good luck XD

Re: Dreadlocks and lack of jobs?
Fri, March 20, 2009 - 12:31 PMive never had a problem..which surprised me since not only do i have long dreads, but they change colors and the back of my head is usually short or shaved. I'm a cook/baker, and really, as long as i keep them back like normal hair, no one cares. I also enjoy pointing out to people[mostly who think because i have dreads it must mean its going to just fall in their soup or food] that their hair sheds...whereas my hair collects itself
